Episode 21: When You Just Don't Feel Like Yourself Anymore

Season #2

Coming Home to Yourself: What Happens When You Don't Feel Like Yourself Anymore

Have you ever quietly wondered, “I just don't feel like myself anymore. How did I get here?”

Maybe you're functioning. You get up, go to work, take care of what needs to be taken care of, solve problems, and show up for the people you love. From the outside, you may look like yourself, but inside, something feels different.

Maybe you've stopped doing the things that once made you feel alive. Maybe you've become disconnected from your creativity, your body, your sensuality, your desire, or your voice. And when someone asks, “What do you want?” you genuinely don't know.

In this episode of She Receives, I begin Season 2 with a question that comes before “Where did my desire go?”

Where did I go?

Season 1 focused on trust, safety, the nervous system, reconnecting with the body, softness, self-abandonment, and discernment. In Season 2, we take that foundation with us as we begin exploring sensuality, sexuality, desire, pleasure, touch, receiving, and deeper intimacy.

But we don't begin with performance or trying to manufacture desire.

We begin with coming home to you.

Because maybe you haven't lost yourself. Maybe you've spent so much time caring for everyone and everything outside of you that you've lost touch with the woman within.

And perhaps restoration isn't about becoming the woman you used to be. Perhaps it's about creating enough safety to become curious about the woman you are now.

Key Takeaways & Highlights

You May Not Have Lost Yourself: Disconnection can happen gradually through trauma, grief, caregiving, motherhood, marriage, divorce, career, responsibility, people-pleasing, or simply having to keep going for too long. You may have become so focused on everyone else's needs that your own voice became harder to hear.

Start With Wanting: Before asking how to get your sexual desire back, become curious about desire in your everyday life. What sounds good? What makes you laugh? What feels beautiful? What makes you curious? What do you want to wear, create, experience, or explore?

Small Preferences Matter: I like this. I don't like that. I want more of this. I've had enough of that. That feels good. These small moments of noticing can help you reconnect with your preferences, your voice, and yourself.

You Are More Than Your Roles: You may be the strong one, the capable one, the mother, wife, professional, leader, helper, or dependable friend. Those roles may be part of you, but they are not all of you. There is also a woman who laughs, plays, rests, dreams, creates, feels, wants, and desires.

Restoration Is Not Regression: You don't necessarily need your old self back. You've lived, loved, learned, lost, changed, and grown. Your needs, boundaries, desires, and priorities may have changed too. Coming home to yourself can mean discovering who you are today rather than trying to return to who you once were.

Choose Self-Receiving Over Self-Improvement: What if you stopped making yourself another project to fix, improve, or perfect? Instead, what if you listened, noticed, and made room? You don't have to know everything that's trying to come alive in you. You can simply create the space to listen.

Coming Home Can Begin With Noticing: Reconnection doesn't have to be dramatic. Sometimes it begins with noticing what makes you feel like yourself, what you've missed, and what part of you wants more room in your life. Noticing is a form of reconnection.

If this conversation resonated with me, I can share it with another woman who may be quietly wondering, “Where did I go?”

I don't have to find an old version of myself.

I can become curious about who I am now.

I can slow down.
I can listen.
I can make room.
I can allow what is true.
I can receive what is good.

And from that place, I can give from overflow.

From safety, she receives.
